2011 Air Show Report
The 49th edition of the International Paris-Le Bourget Air Show, which took place from June 20 to 26 2011, reflected the renewed growth in the activities of the air and space industry.
Records were beaten as regards exhibitors as well as professional and general public participation; on the actual business front numerous orders were placed with our exhibitors.
This edition was also the opportunity to host for the first time the solar aircraft, Solar Impulse. In addition, the presence at the Show of such aircraft as the lX3, the A400M or the B747-8 was a confirmation that the Show continues to be the showcase for the technological breakthroughs of the air and space industry.
The key event for the industry, the Paris Air Show is THE venue to meet business partners and present innovations. This edition was particularly rich in events and new products.

JUNE 2012 – TOURVEST DUTY FREE LAUNCHES NEW INFLIGHT SALES AWARD
In January 2012, LEMANG & TOURVEST entered into a Contract Agreement for the maintenance and repairs of their Duty Free Trolleys, in combination with SAA INFL major Trolley repair contract.
TOURVEST DUTY-FREE (TDF) is the in-flight retail sales business of Tourvest’s Retail division that provides duty free product services to passengers globally. Its head offices are located at SAA INFLIGHT O.R. Tambo Intl Airport.
In May 2012, Undi Kandulu (Sales Representative at Lemang Aviation) was approached by TOURVEST to represent them as a judge at TASPA, the Tourvest Annual Sales Person Awards. The criteria for representation: a person from Aviation industry, knowledgeable with aircraft catering equipment such as trolleys used by crew for Duty-Free products sales.
Known as the Tourvest Ambassadors and Sales Person Award, this prestigious gala event is an extension to the very successful Tourvest Annual Sales Person Award (TASPA), which has been in existence since 2002. The event was created in order to select and award the top candidates to represent the respective airlines at the Regional TASPA, where the Best sales people across various Airlines, operated by Tourvest Duty Free, will compete.
The intention of the ambassadors’ leg of the award is to acknowledge previous TASPA winners for their part in mentoring new crewmembers in such critical skills as sales technique, product knowledge and product merchandising.
Speaking at the South African national award ceremony, held in June this year at the St Georges Hotel in Centurion, TDF general manager Africa Sarel Marais spoke about how the new award had helped to nurture relationships among crewmembers as well as to further develop previous TASPA participants across all TDF’s concessions.
The national competitions will continue until November when the finalists for all the African countries in which TDF operates are selected at the regional event.
